The Physiology of dormancy and Maturity of Lilium longiflorum Thunb . cv . Nellie White Bulb
Roh Seung-Moon

Wilkins, Harold F.
Abstract
The bulb of Lilium longiflorum Thunb. cv. Nellie White were harvested from July to October, 1972 to study the bulb weight increase and the changes in the nutrient elements in the leaves, stem, and various part of scales.
Bulb weight increase, as the harvest dates were delayed, was mainly attributed to the weight increase of the daughter scales. The leaf, stem, and various scale analyses of various nutrient elements did not show any relationships either with the harvest date or translocation of nutrient elements from shoot to scales.
Therefore, it is concluded that the nutrient element contents are not a reasonable device to measure the level of dormancy and maturity or to determine tire bulb harvest date.
